Pretty well all the good names have been taken. People will sell you names, and you can hope to find a buyer for these, but usually you end up losing money trying this. As the other poster said, you are10 years too late.
You can’t actually “own” a domain name. The laws on trademark used to be unclear because internet marketing was a new thing. It has been cleared up since then.
Example: if you have a domain name with “walmart” in it, and Walmart, Inc. complains that you are messing with their trademark, the domain name registrar will take it away from you and give it to Walmart, regrdless of anything you might have paid in the past.
Most of the good ones have been taken years ago. However, just keep a watch and a good ear open to what is hot and you might luck into some good name. I own many domain name—and YES you actually own the domain name, unless it has already been trademarked by another company. And then you still own it but the company who owns the trade mark can make you relinquish your ownership due to trademark laws.
I recently bought some very hot, 5 letter names in the carbon credit genre. In another 5-10 years (maybe less) these will be quite valuable… when this scam of carbon credits takes all the idiots by storm:-) When global warming started to heat up, I bought some good names for that too:-)
Just listen to catch phrases that are coming out and be the first to snatch it up.
Unfortunately **** names are big sellers now.
You just need foresight in the market that’s all:-)
